Background and Research Interests:

Professor Zarling is currently a Professor Emeritus with the Mechanical Engineering department at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Professor Zarling was with the department from 1976 till 1997. Professor Zarling's area of expertise is in arctic engineering and heat transfer. Professor Zarling currently is a consultant with his firm Zarling Aero & Engineering. Professor Zarling has been a consultant to a number of large firms, such as ARCO, Alyeska, and with the CRREL. Professor Zarling still teaches CE 603 Arctic Engineering at UAF, and teaches the Cold Regions Engineering short courses offered to professionals.
