Zhang and Colleagues Receive Major Research Instrumentation Grant from NSF

Dr. Jing Zhang, Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering (Co-PI) with Drs. Tom Trainor (PI, Chemistry) and Michael Whalen (Co-PI, Geology and Geophysics) received a $250,000 award from the National Science Foundation (NSF) Major Research Instrumentation (MRI) program. The award will support the acquisition of an advanced powder x-ray diffractometer (XRD). The powder XRD will support a wide range of research requiring phase identification and crystallographic structure determinations of natural and man made materials.
