• Are you using a personal vehicle? Then calculate 58.5 cents a mile in gas and operation costs, plus $500 in emergency repairs (this is typical for a trip to the North Slope).
  
  
• Are you using a university vehicle that INE leases long term? Then plan for $27/day, plus gas, plus $500 for emergency repairs. Talk to Doug Kane (x7808) or Paul Metz (x6749) to see if one of these vehicles will be available to fit your field schedule.
  
  
• Are you planning on getting a vehicle from the university pool? Plan for $185/week, plus gas, plus $.35/mile, plus $500 for emergency repairs. Be sure to call Vehicle Rental at the UAF Physical Plant (x6857) well ahead of time (at least four months) to reserve a vehicle.
