Equipment

Our facility hosts a Fineplacer Pico Rework Station, a hand soldering station and a Cascade Microtech Probestation, as well as Agilent Technologies oscilloscopes and analyzers. X-ray inspection can be performed using our Dage X-ray Microscope that is located in the Reliability Lab.

Fineplacer Pico Rework Station:

The Fineplacer Pico is a hot-air rework system that provides the ability to position and solder miniature electronic components, with a placement accuracy close to 5µm, and programmable control over temperature and gas flow parameters, which gives a high degree of consistency and reliability.

Circuit boards can be fixed to a micrometer-adjustable base plate, then viewed under high magnification on a video display. Components can be picked up by a vacuum tool and aligned optically to the board with an integrated beamsplitter assembly. When the component is lowered onto the board, the view changes to a side camera, which offers a close-up view of the component while the soldering takes place.
