Welcome to the Alaska Center for Energy and Power
The Alaska Center for Energy and Power (ACEP) based at the University of Alaska is dedicated to applied energy research and testing focused on lowering the cost of energy throughout Alaska and developing economic opportunities for the State, its residents, and its industries.
ACEP Program Areas:
- Rural Energy Solutions – ACEP will be where the rubber meets the road for rural energy technologies. ACEP will serve as a proving ground so that efficient and effective technologies can be implemented in rural Alaska where diesel fuel and power failures come at a high cost.
- Powering the Economy – ACEP will provide the research necessary to develop big power opportunities in Alaska in order to service resource development needs throughout the state, the U.S., and the world.
- The Oilfield of the Future – ACEP will extend the University of Alaska’s ongoing research in gas hydrates, heavy oil, carbon sequestration and renewables in developing the “Oilfield of the Future” in order to help ensure that the oil industry and the state are prepared for the future.
