Background and Research Interests:

Dr. Huang’s research interests include arctic geotechnical engineering, frost heave mechanism, and slope stability. He has worked extensively with consulting firms, oil and gas companies, and the U.S. and Japanese government agencies on development of critical geotechnical engineering parameters for chilled gas pipeline design in arctic regions.

Professor Huang joined the Geological Engineering Program at the Department of Mining and Geological Engineering in 1981.
