Dear Colleagues:

At the International Symposium on Rock Mechanics held in Hong Kong last month, a paper co-authored by Huanyang Luo, Wendy Zhou and Scott Huang received the best paper award. The title of the paper is: GIS-Based Approaches to Earthquake-induced Landslide Hazard Zonation. The paper was presented by Scott Huang.

This is a significant achievement. The symposium was attended by hundreds of international researchers, engineers and scientists on rock mechanics. Among over three hundred papers presented at the symposium, only two were given the best paper awards.

Congratulations to Scott Huang, Huanyang Luo (UAF GE Ph.D. graduate), and Wendy Zhou (former GE faculty)!
