Program Description | Courses | Research | Admissions

Greetings from Fairbanks, Alaska!

Thank you for your interest in the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) graduate program at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. We are proud of the quality of electrical engineering education offered by UAF. We offer one of the most affordable programs available. The ECE department is relatively small, which allows us to grant students 24 hour access to laboratories appropriate to their course work. I know of no other school that allows this access; it speaks well for the quality and integrity of our students.

You'll find that UAF faculty are much more accessible than is usual in larger schools. Those who enter the job market report that they feel exceptionally well prepared to compete effectively with colleagues who graduated from better known universities.

Although the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department cannot promise financial aid, we typically employ interested students as paper graders, lab assistants, and research assistants. Our department awards several Graduate Teaching Assistantships each year on a competitive basis. Each teaching assistantship includes a stipend and a tuition waiver for up to three graduate courses per semester. Students wishing to be considered for the award of Graduate Teaching Assistantship beginning in the fall semester must submit a complete graduate application by February 1. Award decisions will be announced by May 1.

Applications for graduate admission and general information about Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Graduate School at UAF are available online. If you have any questions, please feel free to call (907) 474-7464 for the Graduate Office, or (907) 474-7137 for the Electrical and Computer Engineering Dept.

Once again, thank you for your interest in UAF.

Sincerely,

Charles E. Mayer
