Admissions and Applying

UAF understands that all students have unique educational goals. The Office of Admissions makes it their top priority to ensure that all students are given prompt and correct information in regards to their admissions requirements.


Requirements

In order to be admitted into the CEE undergraduate program students must meet certain requirements.

Applying

If you are ready to apply you can either apply online or download an application form and mail it to the university.

If you do not have access to the Internet you can write the Office of Admissions and request an application package.

Cost

Please see the tuition costs and fees page or the UAF tuition calculator for more information on the cost of attending UAF.

Student not from Alaska may qualify for a non-resident tuition waiver if:

  • Active duty United States military personnel and their dependents.
  • Members of the Alaska National Guard and their dependents.
  • Students who are children of a person who graduated from the University of Alaska.
  • Students who are residents of British Columbia, the Yukon, Northwest or Nunavut Territories.
  • Students from other states whose public universities waive non-resident tuition surcharges for Alaska residents based upon a reciprocal agreement.
  • Students from foreign cities and provinces which establish sister city or sister province relationships with the state of Alaska or Alaskan municipalities and which have been approved by the UA president.
  • Students enrolled in no more than 4 credits per semester pay tuition at the resident rate.

If you are a new student, your residency or waiver of residency will be determined during the admissions process. If you are a returning student, complete the residency status form available at the Registrar's Office.

Undergraduate Funding

There are some scholarships and research assistantships available for undergraduate CEE students. For more information please contact the main office. There are also scholarships offered through UAF for more information see Financial Aid.

Freshman

If you have recently graduated from high school and are interesting in enrolling in the CEE program the freshman admissions page will have a lot of helpful advice on how to apply.

International Students

There are many international students at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. There are some special considerations that international student must consider before applying to the university. International students interested in joining the CEE program should go to international students admissions. The Office of International Programs can also be contacted at (907) 474-7677 or (907) 474-5327.

A TOEFL score is required if all your formal education is from a country where English is not the primary language, or when the documents presented for admission don't clearly indicate your proficiency in English. A computer score of 213 and a written test of 550 is required for admission to UAF.
