Creating Drillhole Databases
The course covers the concepts involved in the creation of a drillhole database. This hands on course teaches students how to create a drillhole database in Vulcan from Excel spreadsheets by combining collar, lithology, assay and survey information. Created databases/tables are exportable. The course benefits the students even if they use MineSight or other software.
Note that this is the first part of a series of courses on orebody modeling and mine design. The next part is to be offered in the Fall semester, after students return from summer field programs. In the second part, they will learn to develop orebody models from the drillhole databases.

Dr. Ganguli is a Professor of Mining Engineering at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. He has been teaching Vulcan based modeling at UAF for over ten years.
