The UA Military Strategic Council's purpose is to guide the University's efforts to provide quality programs and services to meet the educational needs of the active duty service member, their families, veterans and retirees and members of the National Guard.

The University of Alaska is proud of its long history of serving the military community in Alaska. Beginning in 1943, with the formation of the Nanook Battalion, Army ROTC program on the Fairbanks campus, to offering classes on the military installations beginning in 1955, UA is committed to serving the military community.
