Strategic Direction Update

There is a lot of activity on the Kenai Peninsula College! A brand new dormitory is going up soon and growth at the campus is in the air!

UAA Kenai Peninsula College will hold its Strategic Direction listening sessions on the Kenai River Campus in Soldotna tomorrow, April 17. Students will meet from 10:45 a.m. – 12 p.m.; staff from 1 – 2 p.m.; and faculty from 3 – 4 p.m.

UAA KPC Kachemak Bay Campus will conduct its Strategic Direction listening sessions in Homer on Wednesday, April 18. Students meet from 12 – 1:15 p.m.; staff meet from 2 - 3 p.m.; and faculty meet from 4 – 5 p.m.

The Strategic Direction team would like to thank the Chancellors and their campus directors for helping us conduct the countless listening sessions that have taken place in student lounges, conference rooms, and classrooms throughout the state. We would also like to thank the hundreds of external leaders, faculty, staff and students who took the time to tell us what they would like to see in their university system in person and online.

By Wednesday, April 18, the strategic direction team will have conducted eighty listening sessions on campuses throughout the university system.

Recently, the joint Statewide Academic Council (SAC) and President’s Cabinet met to discuss the next phases of the Strategic Direction Initiative (SDI). They also began an overview of the objectives for each phase.

The next step will be a meeting scheduled for July 23. Members of the SAC, Chancellors, provosts and the President’s Cabinet will begin working with the inputs and ideas that came from the eighty listening sessions. They will also provide their input into the SDI plan.

You can answer the listening session questions online! There are listening session questionnaires for students, staff, faculty, and alumni. If you were unable to participate in a listening session on your campus, all you have to do is click here ! Your comments will be a part of the dialogue that’s happening throughout the University of Alaska system. Let us know what you would like to see in your University of Alaska and be a part of “Shaping Alaska’s Future 2017”!
