Environmental Health & Safety

The University of Alaska (UA) is committed to the health and safety of the university community, its visitors, and students.  The University's diverse geography and stewardship mission lends itself to the  further commitment of the identification and control of preventable environmental degradation.

Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) is a responsibility we all share, individually and collectively. Our success is dependent on the establishment and growth of an exceptional safety culture.

The Risk Services Department shares this responsibilty and facilitates growth by providing the following services through their EH&S section:

  • Improve occupational safety and health throughout the UA system

  • Provide technical assistance

  • Enhance awareness, knowledge and educational opportunities in health and safety issues

  • Recommend and pursue opportunities to facilitate collaborative efforts regarding EH&S issues

  • Establish guidelines and procedures for environmental due diligence and health and safety programs
