Melissa Hill is the Director of K12 Outreach at UA. She oversees the Alaska Teacher Placement (ATP) program and Future Teachers of Alaska. She works closely with school districts across the State to address education workforce development needs. She came to Alaska in the summer of 1999 as the University of Alaska Fairbanks Asst. Volleyball Coach. The following year, she served as the Recruiting Specialist for ATP and was later promoted to Interim Director, and then transitioned again to UA Statewide to expand K12 Outreach. She has experience in professional development, adult learning, facilitation, and human resources. She came to Alaska from Spokane, Washington where she worked for five years in the Physical Education department as an assistant volleyball coach, adjunct faculty member, and program coordinator for development. She graduated from Eastern Washington University in 1999 with a BA in Education and is completing a masters degree in Adult Education with an emphasis in leadership from the University of Alaska Anchorage.

Over her eight years at UA she has served on a variety of committees including: an appointment to Governor Palin's Transition Team for Alaska Education; member of the Alaska Society for Technology and Education; serving on the Alaska Workforce Development Youth Council Committee; attendee at the National Staff Development Center Annual Conference, New Teacher Center Symposium Professional Development Seminar, New Teacher Center Induction Institute; and presented at the American Association of Employment and Education conference; as well as being a certified Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) trainer.
