Christopher Turletes is the Associate Vice Chancellor for Facilities and Campus Services for the University of Alaska Anchorage. He has over 35 years of experience in construction, construction management, facilities management and workforce leadership. In 2000 Turletes retired from the U.S. Army as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Corps of Engineers. He served the U.S. for 23 years, culminating his service as Deputy District Engineer of the Alaska District.
From 2000 through 2003 Turletes served as the Alaska Operations Manager for Earth Tech, an 8,000-person worldwide engineering organization whose efforts in Alaska focused on engineering and construction management support to the Missile Defense Agency. In 2003 he joined the University of Alaska Anchorage staff as the Director of Facilities Maintenance and Operations. In 2007 he became the Associate Vice Chancellor for Facilities and Campus Services.
Turletes is a lifetime member and a Fellow of the Society of American Military Engineers. He is a Certified Facilities Manager through the International Facility Management Association, a graduate from the APPA Institute for Facilities Managers and holder of the Certified Educational Facilities Professional (CEFP) credential from APPA. He holds an M.S. from both the University of Massachusetts and the University of Alaska Anchorage and an M.A. from the Naval War College.
Turletes has been married to Cheryl Stewart since 1985. They have two adult daughters: Irene, a UAA graduate and working engineer, and MaryAlice, a hair designer and makeup artist. Turletes is a back of the pack runner, cross-country skier and recreational biker. He and Cheryl enjoy their two standard poodles, reading, hiking, cross-country skiing, camping, working the yard and garden, and listening to Public Radio.
