University of Alaska remains open Friday June 11, 2004
Friday has been declared a national day of mourning by President Bush. Governor Murkowski has also declared the day a state holiday. Flags will be flown at half mast and we have been encouraged to reflect upon President Reagan’s service to the nation and to mourn his passing. Governor Murkowski has asked that “all Alaskans take a moment of silence tomorrow to reflect on all that President Reagan meant to Alaska.”
Although state and federal offices will be closed tomorrow, June 11th , in remembrance of President Ronald Reagan, the University of Alaska will be open. University classes will be held and administrative offices will be open. Employees who wish to take time that day to remember President Reagan’s life and service will have their annual leave requests honored.
