Transitions
Amanda will be working with Mary Rutherford, associate vice president for development, who assumed her position last month. Amanda started with the university in 1995 as a student employee, and became a fulltime employee in 1997. She received her bachelor's degree from UAF last year, and is now in a graduate program.

Scott Christian, who has been director of the UAS Professional Education Center, has been named as the first director of the Alaska Distance Education and Technology Consortium in the office of President Mark Hamilton. Christian will continue to work from Juneau.

The consortium is an executive group of policy makers representing higher education, K-12 education, vocational education, military and veterans affairs,and others. The purpose of the consortium is to facilitate efficient and effective development and delivery of distance education in Alaska. The consortium was first convened in the summer of 2000 at the request of U. S. Sen. Ted Stevens.
