Equipment Specifications
Before purchasing any video conference equipment please
contact VCS so we can assist you in
choosing the equipment best suited to your needs.
To insure the highest quality of IP video conferencing, it is required that all
endpoints meet minimum specifications for equipment, registration, and naming
standards prior to participation in multipoint conferencing across the
University of Alaska Wide Area Network.
The following are the minimum UA requirements for IP video conferencing
equipment:

H.323 version 2 compliant.
2. Video algorithm -
H.263.
3. Audio algorithm -
G.711.
4. Frame rate - 30 fps (frames per second).
5. Video format -
CIF.
6. Data rate - 384 bps (bits per second).
7.
Static IP address on a switched port network.
Once your equipment has been purchased and installed proceed to our
Certification Form to receive your E.164 alias and your endpoint name. Once
submitted, VCS will contact you to setup a time to test your new equipment and
complete the certification process.
