General Software Information
The University of Alaska licenses software and distributes it though three primary channels.
- System Center Configuration Manager via Software Center on Windows (UAF, SW)
- Casper Managment via OIT Self Service on OS X (UAF, SW)
- Software downloads webpage (UAA, UAS, UAF, SW)
All applications are for educational use at the University of Alaska, or in some cases restricted to campuses as noted for individual applications. Just because software is licensed or listed here does not mean the software is endorsed by or full support is provided by your local help desk or computing organization. Check with your local support office to determine what software is recommended, supported, or deprecated.
UAF and SW Automated Systems
Software Center (Windows)
The System Center Configuration Management Suite provides a scalable, efficient way to manage large groups of Windows computers. It's feature set allows the Office of Information Technology the capability to preform patch management, software distribution in line with industry standards and best practices to meet the needs of the University of Alaska Fairbanks and Statewide Adminstration.
OIT Self Service (Apple OS X)
The Casper Management Suite provides a more efficient way of managing and installing software on Mac OS X computers and iOS mobile devices. It offers features and functions that provide the Office of Information Technology with best practice strategies to meet the challenges of supporting Mac OS X and iOS in the University of Alaska Fairbanks and Statewide system.
Software Download Webpage
OIT makes several University of Alaska licensed applications available for download via an authenticated webpage. After logging in you may select an application from the available downloads, review license restrictions, evaluate pre-requisites for the application in question, and download an installer for the application itself.
