Search the Knowledge Base
In Mozilla Thunderbird. Click on Tools → Account Settings
Under Account Settings, select your email account that you want to add EDIR to, and then select the section labeled Composition & Addressing
Under the Addressing section, select Use a different LDAP server: and then click on Edit Directories...
Click the Add button to add a new LDAP server.
Fill in the following information
Name: EDIR
Hostname: edir.alaska.edu
Base DN: ou=people,dc=Alaska,dc=edu
Port: 389
and then click OK and then click OK again to leave the LDAP Directory Servers window
Back under the Addressing section, select your newly added EDIR account from the drop down list. and then click OK
You're Done!!
Congratulations your Thunderbird Email client is now configured to use EDIR as an address book.
Click on Address Book or press Ctrl + Shift + B to open the Address Book.
Select EDIR from the Address Books on the left, and then search it using the bar in the top right
