Public Library Techline Pilot Program
Announcing
PL Techline
(Public Library Techline Pilot Program)
The Alaska State Library and the University of Alaska's Office of Information
Technology (OIT) have partnered up to provide technical support services by
telephone for Alaska public libraries during an 18 month pilot program called
PL Techline.
This means that when Alaska public library staff encounter technical
difficulties, help is a phone call away. Simply dial 888-450-1979 and Technical
Analysts will talk with you, get the details and document the problem and work
with you to troubleshoot the problem. If the issue cannot be resolved during the
initial phone call, it will be forwarded to a staff member of the Alaska State
Library for follow up. The goal of the project is to document the IT support
needs of public libraries which are currently not being met locally and the
extent to which such problems can be resolved by means of an IT helpdesk.
The Technical Analysts will be on duty at the OIT Support Center in
Fairbanks from 7:30am to 9:30pm Monday through Friday, 10am to 6pm Saturday
and Sunday to take your calls. At other times, callers will be asked to leave
a message that will be forwarded on to Support Center staff.
The PL Techline pilot program is now in effect, so please make note of the
phone number below and give the OIT Support Center a call the next time you
have a computer problem.
