UA Statewide and UAF Faculty and Staff: All active faculty and staff accounts will be migrated to Google Apps @ UA between now and January 8th, 2010. Any faculty or staff email address currently ending in @uaf.edu or @email.alaska.edu will be affected by this change.

Current @uaf.edu and @email.alaska.edu users are asked to sign up for their new Google Apps @ UA account as soon as possible—the sooner the better. During this transfer, any mail that is currently stored in one's email account will be automatically transferred into the new Google Apps @ UA account. To begin this transfer, go to the Google Apps @ UA Sign-Up page. New accounts are created each business day; you will be notified via your current email address when your new account is ready.

If you choose not to sign up, your account will be migrated for you during the week of January 4th, 2010.

New to UA Statewide or UAF? A Google Apps @ UA account has been created for you. To access your new account go to google.alaska.edu.

UAF Squirrel Mail Email Account Utilities - Usermin

Usermin is the web interface for the UAF Squirrel Mail system for changing your password.

Usermin is accessed online at the following web URLs:

http://fyabc.email.uaf.edu

https://fyabc.email.uaf.edu

where "fyabc" is replaced with your user name.

Your browser may, in some cases, have security settings which result in error messages when you use the first URL listed above. In this case, you would then use the second URL beginning with "https" to resolve this.

In both cases you will reach a simple web page that contains both a Usermin link and a Webmail link. Click on the Usermin link and the login page will appear where you will then enter your username and email password. After login, you see Usermin's main toolbar, pictured below.

The main toolbar for Usermin has the following buttons and features:

Mail Features

• Mail Forwarding
• Read Mail - Feature is available for use
• Vacation Message
• Using Vacation Message to notify others you're no longer using an account

Login Features

• Change Password
• Running Processes - Available
• SSH Configuration - Available
• SSH/Telnet Login - Available;
  • Setting Preferences for this feature.

Applications Features

• GnuPG Encryption - Available
• Upload and Download - Available

Other Features

• Disk Quotas - Check to see if your allotment has been exceeded.
• File Manager - Feature is not in use at this time
