In 2004, IT departments from UAF and Statewide merged, forming what is now known as the Office of Information Technology (OIT). OIT is comprosed of staffing from what used to be known as UAF Computing, Telephone Utilities, the Center for Academic Technology, and Statewide Information Technology Services. Since the onset of the merger in December, 2004, OIT has developed a new organization that services both UAF, UA Statewide, and the University of Alaska system. OIT is organized into the following departments: Applications Services, Infrastrucutre Technology Services, User Services, Technology Oversight Services, and the OIT Business Office, which provices financial and business support to the other OIT departments. Listed on this page are some of the historical documents that provide the background on how the merger began as well as announcements and timelines that track our progress up to now.
