Google Email Pilot
You have probably seen the survey conducted in June, 2008. Since then, UAF has decided to outsurce our email services to Google. (See the FAQs for more information.) We need your hands-on feedback to help guide us to a production deployment. (And by-the-way, if you haven't already taken the survey, please do! You will see the results from over 1400 participants when you finish.)
We have completed the technical portion of testing and validating Google Applications for Education, and now we are soliciting your participation to try the product on for size and tell us what you think.
During the pilot period selected volunteers will receive their regular business email at their existing email account as well as their new Google Pilot email account.
Who can volunteer? Anyone with an existing University of Alaska issued email account. Ideally, we are looking for a broad cross section of user types from expert to novice computer user; from new student to faculty to executive staff member.
What is the risk? None; your email will continue to be delivered to your existing email account while also being delivered to your Google Pilot account.
How much time and effort is required? As much as you can give. It can be as simple as adding your Google Pilot email account to your existing email client and using it for your business correspondence, or using the Google Web Mail client and experiencing all the features it has to offer.
We will also ask all of our volunteers to respond to the occasional questionnaire as well as provide final feedback at the end of the pilot period.
