Status update
myUA is stalled at this time due to Banner upgrades – roles don’t work. Since Banner 7.2 takes precedence over portal, there is no ETA for fixes. Feb. 1 “go-live” date is very unlikely. Maybe March 1 is a better target date?
Heather demonstrated the new AuthServ in prep. A work in progress, it uses eDir userID and password. Users will choose their primary e-mail account from a list of UA e-mail accounts. Need to encourage students to check their UA e-mail accounts.
Heather showed us new channels in the portal.
Crystal suggested timing the introduction of the portal to students to use for fall 2006 registration in April.
We will leave current blurbs in catalog and class schedule for the next printings.
Timeout issue is being addressed by the Steering Committee – users will be able to set timeout option for themselves. Timeouts for myUA are separate from timeouts in e-mail, UAonline, Blackboard, etc.
E-mail channel may be removed from MyUA tab because the tab may be delayed if e-mail doesn’t work. Icon will remain.
Revise Communications Plan
UAF will be the first MAU to introduce the portal to their campuses. UAA and UAS will follow later.
UAF will not market the portal until Steve Smith does a technical signoff on the project.
SW is making $5,000 available for marketing. Heather will find out if that includes printing of the brochure and if the money can be used in FY06 and FY07.
The Working Group needs to work up a plan for getting the word out to the UAF community on the portal. Heather passed out a revised copy of the communication plan we used a year ago to inform the UAF community that the portal was coming.
Because the date for technical signoff is unknown, Heather suggested we build a plan/schedule using technical signoff as Day 1.
Heather and Jackie will further refine the communications plan and send a new copy to the WG for discussion and refinement at the next meeting.
