The University of Alaska’s enterprise portal, “MyUA”, builds on the successes of SCT’s Banner and UAOnline. MyUA’s inception stems from UA President Mark Hamilton’s observation that UAOnline has evolved and that the university “…must take this effort to the next level and establish interactive virtual environment that connects the entire University of Alaska system.”
President Hamilton’s June directive began the conceptual development of MyUA, to initially focus the portal on student services. Subsequently, the audience will be widened to faculty, researchers, staff, alumni, and essentially encompasses all members of the larger UA community.
MyUA, powered by SCT’s Luminis software, is UA’s response to students who operate in a 24 hour, seven day a week technology rich environment and who come to UA with an expectation that the Internet, and its latest functionality, will be available to them whenever and wherever they want it. MyUA will also provide services and information of interest for employees and faculty.
The design goal is for the viewer to reach information and services of interest in 3 clicks or less, via single sign on, and to customize the portal layout.
