ASF has been downlinking, archiving and distributing data to researchers for more than 16 years.  Data sets have been made available to the science community for IPY. Satellite images over remote polar regions allow researchers to make observations without facing extreme temperatures and with great cost savings.  We are continuing to add to the IPY data sets to provide comprehensive coverage during this exciting international research campaign.

ASF's goal is to continue to make these data available beyond the current IPY to a new generation of researchers interested in studying the Arctic or Antarctic.
