UAF Scientists forecast Hubbard Glacier's mass balance for the next 20 years

UAF researchers David Newman and Uma Bhatt were invited to serve as co-guest editors for a series of IPY themes articles for CISE an AIP/IEEE journal. The first article in the Jan/Feb issue covered the topic of polar remote sensing (by Dan Lubin & R. Masson). The second article appeared in the Mar/Apr issue. This article is about Downscaling of Climate and Glacier Mass Balances and is authored by Bhatt et al. There will be 4 more articles that appear in 2007.

The University of Alaska is committed to supporting the International Polar year through research and outreach efforts. Of the 208 clusters of projects endorsed by the IPY International Programme Office, 58, or 28% have UA participation and 55, or 26% have UAF participation.
