A University of Alaska International Polar Year – North by 2020 Forum Workshop:

Reducing environmental risks and impacts in Arctic coastal and offshore oil and gas exploration

Barrow, Alaska, November 12-14, 2008

The workshop “Reducing environmental risks and impacts in Arctic coastal and offshore oil and gas development” is part of the University of Alaska North by 2020 International Polar Year (IPY) Forum (www.alaska.edu/ipy/). The purpose of the workshop is to engage stakeholder dialogue at the frontiers of Arctic technology, science, local knowledge, and adaptive management, to work together to minimize environmental risks and impacts of offshore oil and gas, particularly in the exploration phase. The meeting will be held at the Barrow Arctic Research Center (BARC) in Barrow, Alaska (USA). We are pleased to welcome you to this important meeting and look forward to productive discussions with you.
