Indigenous Knowledge: Events

The International Whaling Commission will be meeting at the Captain Cook Hotel in Anchorage on May 28-31, 2007. Further information is available at http://www.iwcoffice.org/index.htm.

The UAF IPY Working Group on Indigenous Knowledge/Western Science will be hosting a day-long workshop in conjunction with the 2007 Denakkanaaga Elder’s and Youth Conference to be held in Fairbanks the first week of June. The theme of the workshop will revolve around the contributions of Native Elders in research, with an emphasis on research associated with the International Polar Year. On October 24, 2007, at the time of the annual Alaska Federation of Natives convention, a meeting of Alaska Native Elder’s/Wisdom Bearer’s will held in Fairbanks, hosted by the UAF Interior-Aleutians Campus, with support from the Indigenous Knowledge/Western Science Working Group.
