One of the goals of the International Polar Year is to inspire the next generation of scientists about the importance of the arctic and subarctic to the rest of the world. To that end, the University of Alaska has formed an education committee as part of its IPY efforts. This committee is divided into the UArctic and K-12 educational components in an effort to effectively reach a variety of students.
