HR Procedures

The focus of this site is to provide guidance and instruction to Human Resources personnel throughout the University of Alaska system.

Note: Only those users from UA domains will be allowed to view the Procedures.

We are in the process of adding procedures to the website. Please check back periodically for additional documentation.

General
  Overview documentation of the UA Human Resources system.

Banner Data Entry Instructions
  Detailed instructions on entering data in Banner HR forms.

Reference
  Quick reference guides relating to all areas of the Human Resources system, including staff benefits, benefit contribution rates, calendars, personnel change reason codes, and the payroll process flowchart.

Benefits/Deductions
  Detailed instructions regarding establishing and changing employee benefit and deduction information, including retirement, pension, health care, flexible spending accounts (FSA), and employee selected deductions.

Budget
  Documentation on establishing and changing University position information and correcting labor distribution charges.

HR Accounting
  Documentation on the HR Accounting structure, including staff benefit calculations and charges, review and correction of HR accounts, and University vendor payments.

Nonresident Alien
  Documentation regarding Nonresident Alien (NRA) hiring, reporting, and lawyer approval procedures for the University of Alaska.

Payroll
  Documentation on payroll issues, including time reporting requirements, check and autodeposit distribution, taxable benefits, terminations, review and correction of employee pay and leave, and tax forms.

Personnel
  Documentation on personnel issues, including the hiring process, changes to existing employee job information, and terminations.

Recruitment
  Documentation regarding recruitment processing, including establishing position requisitions, and tracking the status of recruitments via www.uakjobs.com.

Employee Procedures
  Instructions and forms for employees to establish or change their employee information related to the Human Resources system, including name, address, retirement, pension, health care, and flexible spending accounts (FSA), and employee selected deductions. Also contains instructions and forms for the UAKjobs web site, including the Background Check Authorization Form, the FCRA Rights document, and contact information for the campus Human Resources offices.
