What is the “Statewide Staff Campaign?”

The Statewide Staff Campaign at the University of Alaska provides a way for employees to give back to their university and its mission of providing academic excellence.  The participation level also helps President Hamilton when it comes to approaching corporations and foundations for future gifts.


Can I specify where my contribution should go?

Absolutely! Your contribution can be designated to a variety of areas including scholarships, colleges, departments, programs or endowed chairs, just to name a few. Your gift directly benefits the area you choose. Simply note your preference on the staff contribution form.


Can I designate my gift to more than one area?

Yes. Clearly note on the staff contribution form how much you want to give to each fund.


How much should I give?

Participation is the key to our success.  The importance of the campaign is that staff gives and the amount is not the focus.  Our campaign goal for 2009 is 67% participation.  Your gift can help us reach that goal!


What are my payment options?

You may give by check, by credit card, or by payroll deduction. You also may give via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) from your bank.  If you choose to give via credit card, you will need to visit the UA Foundation website at www.alaska.edu/foundation.


Can I make an anonymous gift?

Yes. Simply note your preference on the payroll deduction or online gift form.


Can I make a gift jointly with my spouse?

Yes. Indicate on the gift form that your gift is made jointly.


I have already made an annual gift this year. Will it count toward this campaign?

Giving through the campaign allows you the convenience of payroll deduction, but all gifts made by employees to the university through annual fund campaigns at UAA, UAF & UAS, or directly to a program or department count when we calculate faculty and staff participation rates.


Where do campaign funds go?

All dollars raised at the University of Alaska are designated to programs, projects and scholarships according to the donor’s wishes.


I already work here, why should I give?

As members of the University community, we can all see first-hand how expensive it is to obtain a post-secondary education. Staff giving can never be enough to make up the entire shortfall, but Staff participation in giving can go a long way to helping us be heard when we ask for corporate, foundation and legislative support.

Participation is the key to our success during the Statewide Staff Campaign. The number of employees supporting UA influences corporations and foundations that are considering major grants and gifts to the University.
