Microsoft gives Alaska Native Science & Engineering Program $1M software grant

ANCHORAGE, AK – The UAA Alaska Native Science & Engineering Program (ANSEP) announced Friday that Microsoft contributed a Large Strategic Software Grant valued at just over $1M. The Microsoft contribution will provide Windows 7 and Microsoft Office software for ANSEP’s Pre-College component, benefiting high school students across nine states: Alaska, Hawaii, Washington, Idaho, Colorado, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana and Arizona. The announcement of this generous software grant was made at ANSEP’s 15th Anniversary Celebration at the Dena’ina Civic and Convention Center in downtown Anchorage.

Tordoff Named 2010 Edith R. Bullock Prize for Excellence Winner

Dirk Tordoff, head of the Alaska Film Archives at the University of Alaska Fairbanks Rasmuson Library, has been selected as the 2010 recipient of the University of Alaska Foundation’s Edith R. Bullock Prize for Excellence.
2011 Angus Gavin Migratory Bird Research Grant Available

The University of Alaska Foundation is pleased to announce the availability of the 2011 Angus Gavin Memorial Bird Research Grant. Proposals for the grant will be accepted from scientists within the University system, which includes graduate students and faculty members employed within the University system.
2011 Edith R. Bullock Prize for Excellence

for the 2011 Edith R. Bullock Prize for Excellence. This prize is funded from a generous gift from the late
Edith R. Bullock. Any individual, regardless of University affiliation, is eligible for nomination for the prize,
which carries with it a $20,000 award for the recipient.
Alaska Space Grant Program Undergraduate Scholarship

Undergraduate Scholarships of up to $1,000 will be awarded through a competitive process to full-time students attending the University of Alaska. Scholarships are open to new and continuing students in the disciplines of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
University of Alaska Foundation Elects New Trustees and Officers

Three Alaskans were elected to the University of Alaska Foundation’s Board of Trustees at the organization’s annual meeting, held in Anchorage on Nov. 8, 2010. Two of the three are new to the board, while one was elected to a second term.
