At the University of Alaska student body's request, President Mark Hamilton released Freddie Fish from captivity today. The event was videotaped and posted on the UA Web Site at www.alaska.edu.
Soon after the word spread about the mascot's capture FAFSA applications began being turned in at all campus locations. The response to Freddie's capture was so strong it caught financial aid officers off guard. They are all happily putting in the extra time to catch up with the extra work involved in getting the forms processed quickly. Ted Malone, Director of Financial Aid at UAA said, "This is fabulous. We are really kicking some FAFSA butt down here at UAA".
Excited by the current release students are still filing FAFSAs at an alarming rate.
