Many of Alaska EPSCoR's EOD outreach efforts reach beyond the University of Alaska and connect with the wider community. These include:
Stakeholder Engagement. EOD has partnered with all three Test Cases to support events that bring local stakeholders together to both contribute to research efforts and benefit from them.
TREND Alaska. Alaska EPSCoR partners with the Technology Research and Development Center of Alaska (Alaska TREND) at the University of Alaska Anchorage to provide small grants to Alaskan startup businesses seeking to secure larger federal funding.
Alaska Seed Fund. In 2017, EPSCoR also co-sponsored an "Alaska Seed Fund" competition for Alaska businesses with innovative ideas. The winning firm, CognitiveDoc, LLC, received $20,000 for its “carebot” virtual caregiver service designed to help patients avoid readmission to the hospital after surgeries like knee and hip replacements. More than 70 firms and individuals applied for the funding; nine other entrants received awards of more than $3,300.
Interior Alaska Hackathon. EPSCoR supports this annual weekend-long effort to create new computer programs and apps to serve local needs.
Social media and videos. In addition to the newsletter, EPSCoR continually updates this website and engages in several forms of social media, including Facebook and Twitter. Alaska EPSCoR has also produced a series of video spots highlighting current research and outreach, which are posted on the organization's YouTube channel and broadcast on public television.
Public speakers. Alaska NSF EPSCoR sponsors a number of lectures and presentations on relevant topics, including serving as a sponsor of the Science For Alaska lecture series.
