Mark Box

For some years M. A. Box has been editing the volumes for the Essays Moral, Political, and Moral in the Clarendon Edition of the Philosophical Works of David Hume. Box is responsible for the annotations, while his coeditor Tom Beauchamp is responsible for the critical text. A sample of Box's work can be seen in the following edition, done with his annotators David Harvey and Michael Silverthorne.

"A Diplomatic Transcription of Hume's 'volunteer pamphlet' for Archibald Stewart: Political Whigs, Religious Whigs, and Jacobites." Hume Studies 29 (November 2003): 223-66.

Anyone interested in Box's rationale for annotation can consult the following. "The Function of Annotation at the Present Time, with Specific Reference to Hume's Essays." International Journal of the Humanities 3.9 (2005-06): 159-68. http://ijh.cgpublisher.com/product/pub.26/prod.773 Additionally Box has been asked to edit a volume of Hume's occasional writings for the Clarendon Edition.
