Educators say some 800 kids in schools across Alaska are labeled emotionally disturbed. While that's less than one percent of Alaska's total student population, psychologists say emotional disturbance takes a disproportionately high toll on families and classrooms. And the problem is compounded in bush communities that often lack the resources of Alaska's cities. But as KUAC's Robert Hannon reports, a new Fairbanks based program aims to correct.
