Alaska leads the nation in alcohol related deaths, and the number of kids with fetal alcohol syndrome. From the state's point of view the price tag for coping with these problems runs into the hundreds of millions of dollars. But, as KUAC's Ribert Hannon reports, new research programs are looking to lessen our dependence on alcohol.
