    Robert Ricketts, Computer Science Technical Assistant, University of Maryland

    For over 20 years Mike Comberiate has been infamous in creating almost 100
    special project initiatives that apply NASA Space technologies to long-standing
    problems in unusual places on Earth. He initiated 20 historic milestones in Polar
    communications involving both North and South Polar regions. Some, such as the
    first Internet link to 90 North and the first pole-to-pole phone call, are recorded in the
    Guinness Book of World Records and Ripley’s Believe It or Not.
