The joint NTIA/RUS broadband Notice of Funding Availability was published on July 1st. The first program application window opens July 14th, 2009, at 8:00 am ET and closes August 14, 2009, at 5:00 pm ET.
Program workshops are being offered and prospective grant applicants are encouraged to fax in their reservations (see below). The grant registration and application process will be managed at a new website created expressly for this purpose:

Broadband Opportunities for Alaska - Teleconference: Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at 2:00 PM
The University of Alaska and the Institute of the North will host teleconference briefing about broadband opportunities under the American Recovery and Revitalization Act. Dr. Alex Hills will moderate and provide new and updated information on the Act. The briefing will allow for audience questions and comments. We encourage you and your colleagues to participate.
ARRA Broadband Programs for Alaska - Workshop: Friday, July 17, 2009 at 8:30 AM
The University of Alaska and the Institute of the North will host a half-day workshop in Anchorage on Friday, July 17, 2009. The purpose of this workshop is to provide information on the Notice of Funds Availability (NoFA) recently released by the Rural Utilities Services (RUS) and the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA). This session will provide information useful to organizations interested in submitting proposals in response to the NoFA.
