Lucy H. Cuddy – 1957-1963
1889 - Born in Waldron, Scott County, Arkansas; the daughter of Judge Daniel Hon of the U.S. Circuit Court.
1911 - Graduated from the University of Arkansas with the degrees of Bachelor of Arts and Licentiate of Instruction; did some post-graduate work in English.
1912-1915 - Taught three years in the English Department of the high school, Fort Smith, Arkansas.
1915-1916 - Went to Valdez to be principal of the high school.
1917 - Married Warren N. Cuddy, manager of the Valdez Mercantile Company store; two sons, David and Daniel. Husband served as clerk of the court and was appointed U.S. District Attorney for the Third Division, 1929-1933.
1933 - Moved to Anchorage where husband entered private law practice, taking over Harry Morton’s practice.
1935-1941 - Chairman of the Anchorage Girl Scouts Council.
1944 - Son David was killed at Anzio, Italy during World War II.
1951 - Husband died following a heart attack, son Daniel took over the bank presidency.
1956 - Served as chairman of the Anchorage United Good Neighbors Fund, later known as the Community Fund.
1957-1963 - Member of the Board of Regents, University of Alaska.
1958 - Elected chairman of the bank board.
1961 - Received Distinguished Alumna citation from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, Arkansas.
1972 - The campus center building of the University of Alaska at Anchorage, named Lucy Cuddy Hall.
1979 - Died at the age of 90.
