Katherine “Kit” Duke provides oversight for UA’s planning, design, construction, maintenance and operational efforts. She works collaboratively with the MAUs and community college campuses, and with vice presidents and other executive officers. This position monitors capital projects, coordinates master planning and development, oversees the UA capital plan and conducts the President’s Office reviews of projects before they are transmitted for the President’s or Regents’ approval.

Prior to coming to UA, Duke spent 15 years with the Alaska Court System as facilities director.

Duke was born in San Diego, Calif. She moved to Alaska in 1970 after graduating from the University of Kentucky College of Architecture. She has received a Bachelor of Architecture, Professional Registration in Alaska and Michigan (ret.), and holds certification from the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards.

She is married to Rhonald Duke, a lifelong Alaskan. They have three adult children and 2.5 grandchildren!  Duke enjoys spending time with family (especially grandchildren), knitting, sewing, gardening, volunteer work for Ushering in the Arts and for her church, helping people design remodel projects to improve their homes, and reading a good book.
