Sean grew up on New York's Long Island. In 1985, he left New York to attend the University of Alaska Fairbanks. While at the University, Sean was selected to participate in an internship program with what was then the North Slope Borough Department of Public Safety. Sean completed the internship program and graduated from the University with a Bachelor's Degree in Justice in 1991. That same year, he accepted a position with the North Slope Borough as a Public Safety Officer. Sean attended the thirty-second Municipal Police Academy in Sitka, Alaska and graduated in June of 1991. Sean served with the North Slope Borough through June of 1993, when he accepted a position with the University of Alaska Fairbanks Police Department. While at the UAF Police Department, Sean has held the rank of officer, sergeant, lieutenant and captain. In 1998, Sean was asked to join the Alaska State Trooper's Specialized Emergency Reaction Team. S.E.R.T. is the Trooper's equivalent to a Special Weapons and Tactics Team (S.W.A.T.). In September 2000, Sean graduated from the 202nd Session of the F.B.I.'s National Academy. Sean currently serves as the Chief for the UAF Police Department.
Sean is certified by the Alaska Police Standards Council as a firearms instructor for both handguns and rifles. Sean is an instructor in the use of chemical agents in a law enforcement capacity. Sean serves as an instructor for Taser International in the deployment of the Advanced Taser.
