Pat Pitney was named vice chancellor for Administrative Services by Chancellor Brian Rogers on Oct. 10, 2008.
Prior to her current position, Pitney spent 18 years with the University of Alaska System Office, most recently as vice president for Planning and Budget, where she was responsible for providing UA's planning, performance and accountability processes, and developing UA's budget request to the State of Alaska. Pitney also served as director of UA's Budget and Institutional Research and Planning offices, and managed the IT applications programming group. She taught classes at Tanana Valley Campus and has been a volunteer assistant coach for the UAF rifle team.
Pitney grew up in Billings, Mont., and earned an undergraduate degree in engineering physics from Murray State University (Kentucky). She competed for Murray State's rifle team from 1983 - 1987, during which time the team was a two-time NCAA national champion, while Pitney earned All-American honors and two NCAA individual national championships. A member of the U.S. Shooting Team from 1982 - 1988, Pitney earned won an Olympic gold medal in women's air rifle in 1984.
Pitney moved to Fairbanks in 1987 and earned an M.B.A. in 1991 from UAF. She and her husband, Randy, have three children. Randy was selected in 2008 as one of four inaugural members of UAF's Athletic Hall of Fame. The family enjoys outdoor activities and sports of all kinds.
