Gyor - PRIZE - paper foldable Hungarian phase guide
The colorful town of Gyor is situated halfway between Vienna and Budapest. It hosts a vast array of architectural, cultural and natural treasures.
Gyor has won recognition for the protection and reconstruction of the historic buildings in the baroque center of the town. Churches, palaces, museums, characteristic corner-balconies and narrow lanes, all reminders of a historic past, invite visitors to take a walk in the center of the town.
The area has been inhabited since the ancient times. The first large settlement dates back to the 5th century B.C.
The ancient core of the city is Káptalan Hill at the confluence of three rivers: the Danube, Rába and Rábca. Püspökvár, the residence of Gyor’s bishops, can be easily recognised by its incomplete tower. Gyor’s oldest buildings are the 13th-century dwelling tower and the 15th-century Gothic Dóczy Chapel. The Bishop’s Cathedral ranks as a "basilica minor."

The Buda Castle was built on the southern tip of Castle Hill, next to the old Castle District which is famous for its medieval, baroque and 19th century houses and public buildings. The Buda Castle is part of the Budapest World Heritage Site, declared in 1987.

Kecskemet PRIZE - Hungarian Folk Music Band downloadable tunes
Kecskemét, which is located in central Hungary, is the eighth-largest city in the country. According to archaeological findings, the area has been inhabited for at least for 5,000 years. In the 14th century, Kecskemét was already a town. During the Ottoman occupation of Hungary, the town prospered thanks to its role in trade and the fact that people were moving to the towns from the more vulnerable villages. The Ottoman Sultan took a liking to the town and spared it destruction.
In the 19th century it was already part of an important wine district, and it is still known for its barackpálinka, an apricot brandy. The name of the city stems from the Hungarian word kecske meaning goat.
The one-time market town transformed into a sizeable city with stately edifices by the turn of the 19th century. Kecskemét has been the center and county seat of Bács-Kiskun County since 1950.
